The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center’s mission is to promote innovation, creativity, and impact-oriented solutions to critical global problems.  Residencies and conferences at the Center, located in Northern Italy, support work in the Foundation’s key issue areas: global health; climate change resilience; urbanization; social and economic security; as well as food, water, and housing.  In addition, the Center welcomes proposals from all fields that advance the Foundations’ long-standing mission to promote the well-being of humankind.

The Residency Program allows for focused work, uninterrupted by the professional and personal demands of daily life.  In addition to time for dedicated work on individual projects and for reflection during the day, building new connections and collegial interaction with other residents is a defining characteristic of the Bellagio experience.  During a residency, people of diverse expertise and backgrounds come together in a thought-provoking, creative, collegial environment that helps create change and have impact on a wide range of world issues.  Residents include an international group of academics, writers, artists, scientists, journalists, non-governmental organization practitioners, researchers, and policymakers.  Meals and informal presentations of residents’ work afford an opportunity for dynamic discussion and engagement with each other.  The combination of quiet time for individual, focused work and connections with such a diverse community is unparalleled.

Academic Writing as well as Arts & Literary Arts residencies typically last four weeks, and spouses/life partners may accompany residents.  Practitioner residencies can last between two to four weeks.  Joint applications from co-authors are also welcome.

Applications for Academic Writing as well as Arts & Literary Arts residencies are due by May 1, 2012 for a residency period beginning in mid-February 2013 through mid-August 2013.  Applications from practitioners and for conferences are accepted on a rolling basis.

Mummert Scholarships support tomorrow’s leaders from Central and South Eastern Europe. Mummert Scholarships sponsor 2,5 years study for a Master degree in Germany, 4-5 months internship in a germany company and additionally scholarship holders are part of a unique Management Development Program. Only excelent and powerful young personalities are selected, who are willing to return to their home countries right after graduation in Germany, in order to act as a junior manager and future executive. Here are some details on the program:

Scholarships
- financial funds: 850 – 900 € per month
– research grant 228 € per semester
– travel allowance: 150 – 250 €
– laptop allowance: 700 €
– accident and health insurance
– award for graduation with honors: 500 €
