Contract Length: 6  or 12 month placement

Job Description:

A six-month Packaging Innovation & Development Industrial Placement is  offered at our Global Chocolate RD&Q Centre in Bournville UK. The position will have responsibility for a variety of packaging projects across multiple compositions. Project work could include new packaging Growth programs, Productivity initiatives and Quality Improvements. This program is a true representation of what a career in Packaging entails and a great opportunity for students looking for a challenging and rewarding experience.

A majority of the student’s effort will be directed toward total project management, packaging technology and design, financial feasibilities, coordination and execution of packaging material testing in both laboratory and production environments. Knowledge of material testing procedures and equipment is beneficial, but not required. The student will be responsible for interpreting and communicating test results and data to their supervisors and business teams as well as offering recommendations as appropriate.

Students must be able to work and communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization. Much of the work will involve interaction with other functional areas such as Marketing, Logistics, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering. Additionally, students will have contact with packaging materials vendors and may be required to coordinate project activities with these vendors. In addition to their primary responsibilities, students may be exposed to a wide variety of packaging processes, equipment, and materials. Travel will likely be required to fulfil project requirements, monitor line trials at plants, visit vendors where necessary and support other project team activities. In this capacity, a high degree of professionalism and strong analytical skills would be beneficial.

Qualifications:

Good oral and written communication skills, able to work well both independently or in teams, has initiative and drive, is organized, willing to travel, occasionally work flexible hours as business needs dictate able to take charge and lead projects, has a sound knowledge of packaging materials basics, good computer skills (MS Office.), with strong project management potential.
