Location: Hamburg, Germany
Job category: Science/Research
Internship/Master Thesis: Medical Image Analysis
Job Description:
Philips Research is one of the world’s largest corporate research organizations and has a rich history of bringing forward successful innovations in the areas of health and well-being. In the healthcare domain, we are enhancing imaging and monitoring systems, as well as exploring innovative personal healthcare.

Your Responsibilities

Modern imaging modalities, such as Computed Tomography or Magnetic Resonance Tomography are able to acquire volumetric images with an isotropic resolution below 1 mm. While this allows for detailed views of the human anatomy, the amount of data causes a need for automatic image processing algorithm to efficiently extract the relevant information for the clinician. Due to the large number of thoracic CT scans taken nowadays for inspection of the human lungs, there is an increasing demand for an automated image analysis.

In this context, Philips research is looking for a motivated individual for an internship or Master thesis. Topics may address image segmentation, image registration, pattern recognition and/or computer vision.  The responsibilities cover but are not limited to review of state of the art literature, implementation of reference algorithms and development of new concepts, evaluation, and documentation of results in internal reports. Our close collaboration with several national academic groups and long years of experiences allows us to provide an excellent environment for internships or master theses.
